Welcome to MovieCeleb.com. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the MovieCeleb website, services, and API (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, accessing, or using any part of the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA) to use the Platform. By using MovieCeleb, you represent that you meet this age requirement. Users under 18 should have parental or guardian consent.
3. User Accounts
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
- You must provide accurate and complete registration information.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. User-Generated Content
By submitting content (posts, comments, reviews, fan art, etc.) to the Platform, you:
- Retain ownership of your original content.
- Grant MovieCeleb a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content in connection with the Platform.
- Represent that you have the right to submit such content and that it does not infringe any third party's rights.
- Acknowledge that user content may be moderated, edited, or removed at our discretion.
5. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Post content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or hateful.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation.
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Platform without authorization.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or Platform systems.
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or any destructive content.
- Use the Platform for spam, phishing, or commercial solicitation without permission.
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Platform.
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
6. Intellectual Property
The Platform, including its design, text, graphics, logos, icons, code, and software, is owned by MovieCeleb and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.
Movie titles, character names, and associated imagery referenced on the Platform are trademarks and copyrights of their respective owners. MovieCeleb operates as a fan database and information resource under fair use principles.
7. Premium Subscriptions
- Billing: Premium subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected. Prices are in USD unless otherwise stated.
- Free Trial: If offered, the trial period lasts 14 days. You will be charged at the end of the trial unless you cancel.
- Cancellation: You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Access continues until the end of your current billing period.
- Refunds: We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers. Refund requests should be sent to [email protected].
- Price Changes: We may adjust pricing with 30 days' notice. Continued use after the price change constitutes acceptance.
8. API Usage
Access to the MovieCeleb API is available under Studio plans. API users must:
- Comply with rate limits and usage quotas as specified in the API documentation.
- Not redistribute raw API data in bulk without written permission.
- Attribute MovieCeleb as the data source in any public-facing application.
- Not use the API in a manner that competes directly with the Platform.
9. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Fan-generated data (heat scores, trending metrics) are computed estimates and should not be relied upon as definitive measurements.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MovieCeleb and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in Los Angeles County, California.

14. API Terms of Use
Access to the MovieCeleb API is subject to the following additional terms:
- Rate Limits: API requests are subject to rate limits based on your subscription tier (Free: 100 req/day, Pro: 10,000 req/day, Studio: 100,000 req/day).
- Attribution: Applications using MovieCeleb data must include visible attribution: "Powered by MovieCeleb" with a link back to movieceleb.com.
- Prohibited Uses: You may not use the API to scrape data for competing services, train AI models without written permission, or create misleading derivative content.
- Data Freshness: Cached API data must be refreshed within 24 hours. Displaying stale data as current is prohibited.
- Webhooks: Webhook endpoints must respond within 10 seconds. Failed deliveries are retried 3 times with exponential backoff.
15. Premium Subscription Terms
Premium subscriptions are subject to the following terms:
- Billing Cycle: Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) starting from your sign-up date. All charges are non-refundable except as outlined in our 30-day guarantee.
- Free Trial: New users may be eligible for a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. Trials are limited to one per account.
- Price Changes: We reserve the right to change subscription prices with 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers are grandfathered at their current rate for the remainder of their billing cycle.
- Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for early cancellation after the 30-day guarantee period.
- Downgrades: When downgrading from a higher tier, premium features remain available until the end of your current billing cycle.
16. Community Guidelines
All community features (forums, comments, fan art submissions, cosplay galleries) are subject to our Community Guidelines:
- Respectful Discourse: Engage respectfully with other fans. Harassment, hate speech, and personal attacks result in immediate account suspension.
- Original Content: Fan art and other creative submissions must be your original work or properly attributed. Copyright violations are removed immediately.
- Spoiler Policy: Use spoiler tags for content from films released within the last 90 days. Repeated spoiler violations result in temporary posting restrictions.
- No Spam: Self-promotion is limited to designated areas. Automated posting, vote manipulation, and engagement farming are prohibited.
- Content Ratings: All submissions must be appropriate for a PG-13 audience. NSFW content is not permitted on any part of the platform.
17. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved as follows:
- Informal Resolution: Before filing a formal complaint, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
- Arbitration: If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be settled through binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA).
- Class Action Waiver: You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive the right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitrations.
- Exceptions: Either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property disputes or violations of confidentiality obligations.

Similarly, all movie data, character profiles, and franchise information presented on MovieCeleb is sourced and compiled with respect for the studios, distributors, and rights holders who create the content we celebrate.
Our community conduct guidelines are straightforward: treat fellow fans with respect, engage in good-faith discussions, and never use the platform for harassment, hate speech, or spam. We encourage passionate debate about cinema — that is what makes fandom special — but we draw a firm line at behavior that harms others.
